New 3DXtreme Review!
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Tuesday, November 30, 2004
Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DXtreme.net - Aerocool AeroBase Flashing Gaming MousePad.

Here's a clip:

We'd thought we'd have a little fun with this review, after all it's an $18 mouse pad that would drive most people nuts. As a gaming mouse pad it's not half bad, it's got a nice finish and works with optical mice. If you are a gamer that gets involved in long gaming sessions of World of Warcraft or Everquest II and uses headphones then the ability for this mouse pad to alert you to a cell phone call is kind of cool actually. If you are looking for something different, something to drive the cats nuts with or you are just into blinking items - you may have just found your next purchase!

Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DXtreme.net - Thermalright XP-90 AMD64 CPU Cooler.

Here's a clip:

"I have been able to overclock further with the XP-90 and the temperatures remained lower than what we were achieving with the Silent Boost Cooler. While the Thermalright XP-90 may be the best CPU cooler on the market it's definitely not without its faults."

Half Life 2 $34.90

In 1998 Half-Life sent a shock through the game industry with a combination of pounding action and continuous, immersive storytelling...

Now in 2004 Gordon Freeman returns to an alien-infested Earth in the highly anticipated sequel Half-Life 2!

More ways to die... More reasons to live..

By taking the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original, and adding startling new realism and responsiveness Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player's presence affects everything around him.

The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling.

Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people.. people he cares about are counting on him.

'I have no regrets'
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Sunday, November 21, 2004
Hey Everyone,
Our local paper did a front page story on my brother-in-law and I wanted to share it with everyone outside of our local area. It has been posted on the Buffalonews.com website and can be found here.

Mark is doing great considering the situation and we are all very proud of him and his drive to recover quickly. I think the article sums up the whole situation and the events that led to his near fatal injury.

Our good friend Lee from Directron.com sends word that they've slashed the price on the OCZ PowerStream 520 Watt Power Supply tonight. This is about the best PSU on the market. We are reviewing one currently but can tell you this unit will have no problem earning our Editor's Choice award. At a discounted $134 it's the lowest price on the internet.

With its universal ConnectAll connector, the PowerStream power supply offers all-in-one connectivity. (ATX, BTX, Serial ATA, P4 and EPS12V) Every OCZ power supply offers PowerShield power leads with enhanced EMI-control technology to reduce RF interference, stabilize input current and filter out "ripple noise".

Each OCZ PowerStream family member includes the PowerFlex feature for fine-tuning the three adjustable power rails. An LED sits below each of the three adjustment dials; a green light indicates voltage is within ±5% of optimal, a yellow light indicates undervoltage, and red indicates overvoltage.

The OCZ PowerStream PSU box has an eye-catching nickel-plated chrome finish and boasts green exhaust fan LED's and colorfully wrapped wires.

Features & Specifications: OCZ PowerWhisper Technology. OCZ PowerFlex individually adjustable power rails with LED indicators. OCZ ConnectAll universal connector. (ATX, BTX, SATA, P4 and EPS12V). OCZ PowerShield power leads. Technical specifications: 23 dBA @ 60% load. 100-120Vac / 200-240Vac 10/6a. Overvoltage/Short-Circuit protection. Independent adjustable 3.3V/+5V/+12V rails.

Hey Everyone,
We've posted 2 new reviews on 3DXtreme.net - Aerocool HT-101jr Heatpipe Cooler Review

"Until now we had relied on the Thermaltake Silentboost K8 as probably one of the best, silent cooling solutions for the Athlon64. While it was necessary for us to operate the HT-101jr with a fan, it was certainly quieter than our Silentboost with our modification to 90mm fan."

..and the second review - Aerocool Centaurus Titanium LED Fan Review

"With it’s slick design, the Centaurus looks to be a great fan for the case modder and at the same time performing a solid function in providing good air movement."

Real Life Heros...
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Sunday, November 14, 2004
Hey Everyone,
Last Sunday my brother-in-law, a Marine serving in Iraq, was hit by an RPG and lost his right arm and leg. We drove to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland to be with him. We found Mark to be in good spirits despite his injuries. He retold us the gruesome stories war and the situation as it occured in Ramadi while his unit was on patrol. I guess seeing the coverage on the news and the stories in the newspaper just doesn't do justice as to what protecting our freedoms really means. I want to thank everyone that has ever served our country and who is laying their lives on the line now to protect the life that we are so accustomed to. After talking to Mark it made me want to just reach out and thank everyone I saw in a uniform at Bethesda. As my daughter, wife and I were leaving to come back they had 178 more injured military arriving.

We saw many other injured military admitted to Bethesda Naval Hospital when Mark was who had lost limbs in battle as well. Most of these soliders were kids, my brother-in-law just 21 years old. He was visited by veterens of World War II and Vietnam who cried while kissing him on the head thanking him for what he did. Mark will be awarded the Purple Heart this week and deserves it. He's our real life hero.

His story can be read here.

Support Our Troops!

Dean,

I think I speak on behalf of everyone here who works with you, visits this site, and is friend or family. Our hearts and prayers go out to your brother-in-law Mark and we hope he is doing well.

For those who don't know, Mark is in the military and was injured yesterday in Iraq.

If anyone wants to leave a note for Dean and his family I've started a thread in the forums here.

In other news, I don't know if many of you know this, but the Marine Corps turned 229 years old today.

And don't forget to celebrate Veterans Day tomorrow (For the canadians: Rememberance Day). Try and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and those who are on the front lines fighting for the freedom of others around the world.

New 3DXtreme Review!
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Friday, November 5, 2004
Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DXtreme.net - Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 (VIA K8T800 Pro) Motherboard Review

Here's a clip:

"The Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 met our expectations and delivered an experience indicative of our past experiences of Solteks' products. The price to performance ratio of these boards just can not be beat. At the same price point most of the other boards lack SATA Raid, while this may not be used by everyone it is a feature that some may grow into. The stock performance was on par with other VIA K8T800 Pro based Motherboards and the overclocking ability outshined that of the ABIT AV8."

New 3DXtreme Review!
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Tuesday, November 2, 2004
Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DXtreme.net - Silverstone Temjin 5 SST-TJ05-B Case.
Here's a clip:

" Today 3DXtreme is presenting a refresher to an earlier review we had posted. Recently we posted a review of the SilverStone Temjin TJ-05 ATX Case. We ran into a few issues with the Case and SilverStonetek quickly provided another one, this time in black and without the integrated fan controller. SilverStone provided this Case to see if we experienced the same issues, hoping it was damage that occurred in transit we proceeded to move our whole system into this new TJ05B Case. We decided to deliver this as a separate Case review, due to the fact that this Case lacked the fan controller and had a lower purchase price. Let’s see how this Case fared regarding the issues we experienced and if this model of the TJ05 delivered more than just a replacement product."
