New 3DXtreme Review!
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Wednesday, May 26, 2004
Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DXtreme of the Super Talent Memory Module Cooler.
Here's a clip:
"Today 3DXtreme has the pleasure of reviewing the Super Talent Memory Module Cooler. A lot of time and energy gets spent nowadays on cooling your CPU, Chipset or Video card but it can be equally important to make sure that your RAM stays cool. When overclocking the enthusiast has a tendency of increasing RAM voltage for stability but this has the added effect of raising the current levels and thus the temperature of the RAM. Super Talent has developed this cooling solution for just such applications. Let’s have a look at this product a little closer and see if it delivers."

Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DX of the Bytecc ME-320 External 5.25" Enclosure.
Here's a clip:
"Byteccusa has provided us with yet another external enclosure for review. Last time around it was the 3.5" HD External Enclosure, the Bytecc ME-740. The ME-320 will be used to make a 5.25" DVD+Rw drive into a portable USB 2.0 DVD+RW drive. We'd like to thank Steven from Byteccusa.com for sending this unit over for our review. All the hardware we've received from Bytecc has been top notch equipment that we haven't had a single issue with."

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to touch base and let everyone know where we are and where we are going. Right now there is a kind of lull in the industry so we've taken this time to focus on getting some of the old reviews posted. I've gotten a bunch old reviews online in the last 2 days and I hope to continue at this rate. When we moved over to the new layout we also took on the task of re-working all 600-and some odd pages. Minhaz and myself have been busy trying to get caught up with the current content and just never got a chance to get back to the old stuff. If you are looking for an old review, there is a chance it's online already, if not, it will be soon.
Minhaz has sent word that he's taking some time off from 3DXtreme for exams and the finish of the school year. Mike and I are stepping up the reviews and hope to have some interesting new content soon. We are expecting Nforce3 250 AMD64 motherboards to hit in the next few weeks and we should be able to bring some reviews to you from the likes of Albatron, Aopen and Soyo. Also, coming soon is the new K8T800 Pro chipset for the AMD64. In the graphics area we are awaiting the arrival of retail ATI X800 Pro and XT cards as well as the Nvidia Geforce 6800 Series cards. The next few months should be interesting however right now is the calm before the storm.
It's funny how in the last year things have changed so much. Last year Intel was the favored CPU for it's 800 Mhz FSB, Hyper-Threading Technology and overclockability. Also, the amazing memory bandwidth we were pulling from the Canterwood and Springdale chipsets. Nvidia was still competitve with ATI in the graphics industry....
Spring ahead to 2004. The AMD64 CPU has propelled AMD from near death. ATI has just beaten on Nvidia for their biggest mistake yet...Geforce FX 5xxx. We've given up on the 6GB/sec memory throughput and 1 GHZ overclocks of the Intel CPU and now favor the superior efficiency of the AMD64 chips. Clock for clock my AMD64 @ 2.2Ghz kicks the sh!t out of my Intel p4 3.0 @ 3.4Ghz (250FSB) even if the memory throughput with a single memory controller is only 3GB/sec. All that extra memory throughput was moot as many of us have come to realize. ATI continues to pound on Nvidia, however Nvidia had it's time to shine. Another huge mistake for Nvidia was the paper release of it's 6800 series. Had Nvidia been able to sell their product for the month before the ATI X800 series I think Nvidia wouldn't gained back a large portion of the market. However, the 6800 was nothing more than a paper launch and we won't see these cards till late May or even June. ATI will have their X800 Pro's in the consumer's hands by then and may even be able to deliver the X800 XT by then. Nvidia had it's time to shine but they dropped the ball with lack of availability. In any case, as I've said a few times this summer will be interesting. Can Intel strike back at AMD? Will Nvidia be able to compete with ATI this generation or will we have to wait for the next product cycle? Only time will tell, we're just excited to be there when it all happens and report about it.

Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DX of the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Soundcard.
Here's a clip:
"When we think of the typical consumer sound card today what comes to mind is either Soundblaster or onboard sound like the AC97 codec. While there are many choices out there one that might not stand out as a typical consumer sound card is a solution from M-Audio. M-Audio is known primarily for high end audio solutions geared more towards the music mixers and editors. The Revolution 7.1 sound card from M-Audio represents a step towards the every day consumer market for this company and provides a full featured solution that should leave the end user more than happy."

Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DX of the Evercool SuperSilent Turbocooler P4 Heatpipe Cooler.
Here's a clip:
"Today 3DXtreme has the pleasure of reviewing another CPU cooling solution from Evercool, the Super Silent Turbo Cooler Pentium 4 Heatpipe. When we think of heatpipes we typically have the vision of passive cooling, however this cooler has two low profiles fans for added cooling ability.
