New 3DXtreme Review!

On: Sunday, February 29, 2004
Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DX of the Spire KestrelKing III Heatsink.
"Today 3DXtreme has the great pleasure of reviewing another CPU heatsink from Spire Heatsinks. The KestrelKing III is a heatsink for the AMD Athlon64 and Opteron line of processors. There are not a lot of choices on the market right now for Athlon64/Opteron heatsinks and as usual Spire is one of the first to jump out and provide an aftermarket cooling solution. Let’s take a look at it and see how well it performs."

Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DX of the Titan TTC-K8ATB/825/SC Heatsink.
"Today 3DXtreme has the pleasure of reviewing one of Titan’s latest heatsinks for the AMD Athlon64 platform. AMD64 heatsinks have been for the most part very slow to trickle out to the market and the biggest problem that we have yet found is that they are having a tendency of being loud. For some that isn’t a big deal but for others it can really represent the reason why they would buy the product in the first place, regardless of how well it performs. Will Titan be able to provide a solid cooling solution and also come in with a quiet fan? We’ll soon find out..."

Both satellite speakers and the subwoofer flash blue light in conjunction with the sounds being produced. With all this flair will the Xoxide Ultima Speakers be able to deliver in the sound department? Read on..."

New 3DXtreme Review!

Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DX of the Logitech Z-3 Speaker Set.
"Today 3DXtreme has the great pleasure of reviewing one of the latest products in the Logitech arsenal of PC speakers, the Z-3. A computer system without speakers just seems like a suit without a tie, you could make due without them, but it would certainly work better with them and your computer will look like it was meant to have them. Choosing a set of speakers can be difficult task nowadays with the variety of offerings the needs of the user in mind. A lot of computers, if not all, now have soundcards that are capable of outputting sound to 5.1 and 6.1 speaker setups. But is it necessary to have this? Not always, and that’s where the Z-3 speakers come in. Read on..."

New 3DXtreme Review!
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Wednesday, February 11, 2004
Hey Everyone,
We've posted a new review on 3DX of the Soltek SL-K8AV-R VIA K8T800 AMD-64 Motherboard.
"Today 3DXtreme is taking a look at another AMD64 motherboard, this time around it’s the Soltek SL-K8AV-R. This particular Soltek board is based on the VIA K8T800 chipset and features a more robust HyperTransport than the previously reviewed nVidia Nforce3-150 Motherboard. The SL-K8AV-R features a HyperTransport that is 16-bit wide upstream and downstream and runs at 800 Mhz each way. This gives the VIA K8T800 an effective front side bus speed of 1.6Ghz. So what does this equate to in real world performance? Read on... "

UT 2K4 Demo Released

I thought this deserved its own headline so here it is. The Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo has been released. Just follow the link below to find the download links. Remember, these servers should be getting hammered so you might not get the game right away. I'll post my first thoughts as soon as I play it.

New Server

Hey Everyone,
Well we made it. If you can see the site and the forums they are now coming off the new server. Everything from here seems much faster than before and overall myself and Minhaz are happier with sitewide performance
Also, we now have the ability to grow to the size we've always wanted to. The restrictions of bandwidth and size aren't really a concern at this point so expect the reviews to come with a feverish consistency.
Please, please update your bookmarks to www.3dxtreme.net. We are still waiting for the alternate domains to resolve and would like to phase them out completely. All of our email addresses and links on the site should be pointing to www.3dxtreme.net. However we've got everything forwarding to www.3dxtreme.org and the other alternates to auto forward to www.3dxtreme.net, so you may not even know that you are using an old link or bookmark. Also, the reviews are still in the process of being moved over to the new layout. We've used .htaccess to forward you here via a 404 page. It's all programming trickery that we've incorporated to keep you here even if what you are looking for isn't available just yet, we're pretty sure there's something else that will interest you.
Thanks for your patience!

Bandwidth Issues
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Friday, February 6, 2004
Hey Everyone,
Things with our current host aren't looking to good and we may experience some downtime in the near future. Today I was billed $121 in bandwidth overages for the month of January. Now many will recall that we were down 2 weeks in January to roll over the website. Most months we never broke the allowed 30 GB of bandwidth, now all the sudden in a 2 week period we are doing 54 GB of Xfer. Not according to my hit counters and ad banners. In any case our current host, Tera-byte.com may be getting dropped for Powweb. Powweb offers up to 5 GB of transfer per day and they are cheap, over the course of a year it works out to $7.77 per month. This would allow us to continue growing without being overcharged for bandwidth. We are awaiting one final email from Tera-byte and hoping they are able to resolve this.
In any case if you see us drop offline again, it's cause we are waiting for DNS to resolve...AGAIN (ugh, second time in a month now). Please be patient we will be back after the switch over.

New 3DXtreme Review!
Posted By: Dean Nottis
On: Monday, February 2, 2004
Hey Everyone,
We've just posted a new review - the Soyo SY-CK8 Dragon Plus (nForce3-150 Chipset) Motherboard Review.
"Today 3DXtreme has the great pleasure of reviewing the latest AMD Athlon64 motherboard from Soyo, the SY-CK8 Dragon Plus. The SY-CK8 Dragon Plus uses the already established nVidia nForce3 150 chipset as the basis for this motherboard. The choices of motherboards for Socket 754 are pretty limited right now but are growing every day and it seems the lines between the budget boards and the high end boards are being drawn already. It appears that Soyo is slipping into the middle ground with this board by providing enough features to overshadow the budget offerings while not affecting the price point. Let’s have a look and see if Soyo will again continue to build on the quality of their motherboards with this offering...."
