A Closer Look
Another nice feature is the door on the YY-5601. The reason I mention this as a good feature because I like the fact that the door actually folds all the way back to left side panel so while your accessing you 5.25” devices the door is not flapping in the breeze.
Moving to the bottom of the front bezel the uniqueness of the YY-5601 stands out. The silver front vent flaps do move up and down to help with air flow.
On the left side of the YY-5601 a few features that should be there seem to have been left out. There is an air duct for airflow into the case but it lacks a fan to pull air onto the motherboard. I do believe with some modding a fan can be placed in the duct. Also, the YY-5601 does not have a window for those of you who like to have a view of your internal components. I do on the other hand like the latch that holds the side onto the case so thumb screws are not required for a secure fit.
The rear of the YY-5601 is pretty plain except for the 120mm exhaust fan. I think a 120mm fan is great enhancement over 80mm’s because there is less power cabling to deal with and less clutter in your case.
To round up the exterior of the case the right side is a standard side panel lacking vents or fans for added cooling.
Peering inside the YY-5601 we can see where this case is copying the design of much more expensive cases. The first thing that caught my eye was the parts box mounted in the 3.5” drive stack. I really like being able to keep the screw less drive rails and other parts inside my case so when you’re going to your next LAN party and need to add a quick drive or card you have everything at your finger tips. The next thing is the side mount 3.5” stack which makes things so much easier manipulating hard drives.
The 5.25” drive bays are easily accessible in the YY-5601 as is the floppy drive mount that sits atop of the mounting stacks. The cables coming from the multimedia ports on the front bezel are lengthy making it easy to hook to you motherboard or multimedia cards.
The PCI slots on the rear of the YY-5601 are also screw less, a clamp style strip is used to keep the cards snug in the motherboard. Right above the PCI slots the 120mm fan safety cover keeps fingers safe from the mammoth exhaust fan. Last but not least the YY-5601 does come with a power supply so you can just add your motherboard and go.
