Introduction
Thermaltake is at it again, cooking from the nostalgia pot, and so was born the Golden Orb II. Thermaltake delivers packages to us all the time and every time we tear into it we are treated with something special. Today we are taking a look at the Golden Orb II CPU Cooler. So far the other reviews of this product have been on the Intel LGA775 platform, so I am excited to be able to bring a review of this cooler on the AMD64 platform. The Intel reviews showed it as nothing more than a stock replacement, similar temperatures with less noise, but then again when cooling an Intel Pres”hot” CPU if you aren’t using water there is a good likelihood it’s going to overheat and throttle….who actually buys these CPUs??

Anyways, let’s see what kind of performance this sub $40 cooler can bring to the AMD64 platform. Back in the day the Golden Orb II was the cooler to have – it’s quiet operation and better than stock temperatures put Thermaltake on the map. Should we relive the past or just be content to move on, let’s see…
