Introduction
Today 3Dxtreme is proud to present our latest review of the OCZ PowerStream 470 Watt Power Supply Unit. The OCZ PowerStream features adjustable power rails, allowing the user to dial in the exact amount of power desired for the 3.3, 5.0 and 12 volt rails.

Quite awhile ago I posted a detailed look at the Antec 400 Watt Power Supply that had pots inside, this guide was posted all over the AMDMB.com forums and some other very popular websites. With this particular unit we could adjust the 3.3volt rail and 12/5 volt rails however it required removing the PSU from the case, opening it up and making small adjustments. This was very tedious however came in handy for myself and a lot of other people having power issues at the time. Interestingly enough years later we saw this type of control being put into the hands of the consumer with products like the Antec True Control 550 Watt PSU and today with the OCZ series.

My first thought when I saw this new OCZ PowerStream product line, was “it’s about time!”. OCZ has taken this idea quite a bit further by including colored LEDs on the back of the unit that display the status of the power rails and also including over voltage protection so having this kind of power is not the risk it once was. On the 12 volt rail the OCZ PowerStream can deliver from 10.8 to 13.2 volts, 3.3 volt rail from 2.8 to 3.8 volts and the 5 volt rail from 4.5 to 5.5 volts. Interestingly enough today’s review will feature the comparison of my Antec True Control 550 Watt PSU and this OCZ PowerStream unit.

Let’s take a look at the Specifications and Features that can be found on the OCZ website.
