Aerocool AeroPower II+ 550W PSU Review
Author: Mike Pengelly

Supplied By: Aerocool
Price: $105

Introduction
Today 3DXtreme has the great pleasure of reviewing another fine product from Aerocool, the AeroPower II+ 550W Power Supply. Aerocool has made more of a name by providing system cooling solutions such as the Chameleon and the Storm Juggler fans which we have reviewed in the past. With this power supply they jump into the arena of a providing a modded unit that provides ample power for even the most demanding user. Let’s see how well it performs…

Specifications

A Closer Look
At first glance you can get a real sense of the quality that Aerocool has put into this power supply. The paint job has a mirror shine and there are plenty of windows all around to see inside. Normally we associate a quality power supply with the weight of the unit itself; however this unit really does not have the same kind of density as the PSUs we’ve reviewed from Enermax and ThermalTake. We’ll take a look shortly at the actual working numbers for this unit. The package comes with the usual items, screws to mount the unit in the case, a power cord, and also includes 2 standard Molex to SATA power connector adapters.

Here are some more shots of the unit from various angles. As you can see the paint job is perfect. I was almost tempted to handle this supply with white cotton gloves in order to not get any fingerprints on it.

This is quite a bundle of wiring. Aerocool has sleeved all the wiring with UV active material for those wishing to light up their case with UV lighting. The Molex connectors are also UV active.

There are only 2 strings of wires with 5 Molex connectors on each for a total of 10 connectors for drives, controllers and video cards.

The power connectors are pretty standard, one main motherboard connector, a 12V connector and an AUX connector.

Here is a little demonstration of the paint job quality. As you can see the reflection of this old memory stick is quite good.

And finally, here is the unit lit up and in action within the case.
